A Rock ‘n’ Roll Wedding on the South Coast
South Coast Wedding photography – Kat and Jase celebrate their big day Rock ‘n’ Roll style at Hill End.
Destination – Jaspers Brush, South Coast NSW
Ceremony + Reception – Hill End
From Newtown in Sydney, Kat and Jase weren’t afraid to be different when it came to their wedding. From the couples’ great ink-work, to their retro wardrobes and vintage flair. With their decision to have an unplugged wedding, these two gave me one of my favorite wedding experiences. In my initial meeting with a couple I ask: What are you seeking from your day, what’s important to you? Kat and Jase wanted a laid-back wedding. Jase is also a photographer and was looking to capture the rawness from their day.
It was a destination wedding held at Hill End in Jaspers Brush. A relaxing private retreat, about two hours south of Sydney near Berry, on the South Coast – situated on farm land tucked up a top of a valley.
The actual ceremony was a big feature of this wedding. Kat and Jase, looking for a ceremony to match their style, chose Jacie, a progressive celebrant from I Do Bespoke Ceremonies to marry them in the country setting. She does tailors ceremonies in format and wording to suit their individual style. These less conventional, personalised celebrations are gaining popularity as people become keener on doing things their own way, rather than inheriting a traditional template.
The scripted part of the ceremony was very thoughtful and sincere, offering the story of both their lives and describing their time together. It was done with a real emphasis on authenticity. As Kat had lost her mother twelve months before, there was a sense sadness in the air which left room for some personal imagery along those lines.
Unplugged = + present
Another feature of this wedding was that it was Unplugged so that friends and family could share in the now without digital distractions. So as you can see Kat and Jase do their own thing, their own way. They’re not caught up in conformity, and like to break the usual mold.
At their wedding there was plenty of room for people to cut loose. The after party was awesome – even Elvis thought so! They include me in their celebrations and insisted on a photo together using Jase’s DIY photo both. It ‘s just the best feeling knowing that you have connected with couples … oh, and that they love the imagery that you’ve created 😉
